Despite a statement issued last month from Anthony McGrath that he would not play for Yorkshire again, it seems the county have not ruled out that very prospect.
The statement was immediately followed by a response from the county that they were taking legal advice to see if McGrath, who was midway through a three-year deal, was in breach of contract. And yesterday Stewart Regan, Yorkshire's CEO, said he was still optimistic.
"There is a chance of reconciliation and with two and half months to the new season hope is not lost." Referring to recent signings, most notably of Jacques Rudolph, Regan added: "Now Anthony can see the sort of moves the club have already made, along with others to come such as a new director of cricket. Perhaps he will see that some of the areas he was concerned with in 2006 are now in the past."
