Glamorgan`s bowlers enjoyed a successful time on the first day of their County Championship match against Yorkshire, who had won the toss and opted to bat first. However, all of their batsmen struggled against an accurate Glamorgan attack and in conditions helping the seam bowlers.
By the time rain brought an premature end to the day`s play, Yorkshire had slipped to 190-9 from 63 overs with the Welsh county securing a full compliment of bowling points.
Mike Kasprowicz, who before the game had taken only 2 Championship wickets, was the pick of the attack with 4-47 in 18 overs. Amongst his victims was Yuvraj Singh, who was making his Yorkshire debut, but after facing 13 balls, the Indian edged a ball into the slips where Michael Powell took the first of three catches.
Young all-rounder David Harrison also picked up 3 wickets, including both openers - Scott Richardson, and acting captain Matthew Wood - whilst Alex Wharf took 2 wickets against his former employers, including Gary Fellows who top scored with 53. Glamorgan will be looking to quickly finish off the Yorkshire innings tomorrow morning, and then, weather permitting, consolidating on this position by securing a decent first innings lead..
