Yorkshire hope to retain Anthony McGrath, a long-time member of the side, after talks between McGrath and the county were described as "constructive and helpful" by Stewart Regan, Yorkshire's chief executive.
McGrath, who has been in the side since he debuted in 1995, was reportedly unhappy with the club's management and wanted to be released from his contract which extends up to 2008.
"We are going through a period of change at the moment and I am confident the situation will resolve itself," Regan told BBC Sport, referring to the exit of Richard Blakely, a former wicketkeeper for the county, who had been appointed coach last season and now removed from the post. Blakely's removal is considered to be the reason many senior players, including McGrath, are unhappy with the management. "I think this is part of the problem, along with one or two other things," Regan acknowledged.
Another meeting is expected to take place in the week which will decide McGrath's future with the county.
