The Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan is to replace Nathan Bracken as Worcestershire's second overseas player. Bracken has been released from the contract he signed in October after explaining that his availability may be limited given his rise in Australia's side.
Khan, a fellow left-armer, will fill the breach alongside their other overseas player Phil Jaques, who joins after playing for Yorkshire last year. Khan, who has recovered from a hamstring injury, is expected at New Road in mid-April following an outstanding domestic season in India. He has also played 42 Tests and 107 ODIs for India, with 121 and 155 wickets respectively.
Steve Rhodes, Worcestershire's director of cricket, said that Bracken wouldn't offer the club enough solidity. "We're pleased for Nathan that he has had such a successful six months since we signed him but we really want stability with our overseas players this year."
