Zimbabwe v West Indies

Tony Cozier and John Ward
15-Apr-2005
At Harare, November 30, 2003. West Indies won by eight wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe. One-day international debut: A. Maregwede.
With the series level, Zimbabwe succumbed to their traditional fault of capitulating under pressure and were overwhelmed. Again, the dominant figure was Gayle, who took four wickets and blasted another century off his favourite opponents. Zimbabwe were not doing too badly at 107 for two in the 23rd over, but Gayle sent them into terminal decline: they perished to one dismal stroke after another. West Indies' policy was domination rather than accumulation. Gayle and Hinds survived a couple of good overs from Streak and Blignaut before going into overdrive, not without luck. This time, Gayle needed only 75 balls to take himself to 112 not out and his team to a comprehensive win. Ervine did have the pleasure of extracting Lara's leg stump with a yorker.
Man of the Match: C. H. Gayle. Man of the Series: C. H. Gayle.
