Bangladesh have gone for the tried and tested in their 15-man World Twenty20 squad, as there are no major inclusions or exclusions. Mushfiqur Rahim will lead the best available team with a proper spread of allrounders, as well as specialist batsmen and bowlers.
Chief selector Faruque Ahmed has called the inclusion of Sabbir Rahman, who made his debut against Sri Lanka by scoring 26 in the second Twenty20, as an opportunity for someone with potential in this format. Sabbir gets his chance after hitting six T20 fifties in the domestic competition last season.
"The Bangladesh team is a blend of experience and youth," Faruque said. "We have considered the fact that this was a world event and experience was necessary as well as giving opportunity to youngsters like Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman who have the potential to excel in the shortest format.
"Someone like Arafat Sunny, who has impressed everyone and had been performing consistently at domestic level, had to miss out because we needed to have that balance."
Sunny misses out because Abdur Razzak, the senior left-arm spinner, has been deemed fit enough to play the tournament after he had suffered a hamstring injury earlier this month.
"We have a lot of depth in our bowling. There are three pace bowlers and a seaming all-rounder. However, in our conditions spin will be the main strength and we are well covered in that area with Shakib Al Hasan, Abdur Razzak and Sohag Gazi.
"I also believe this is an excellent fielding side and that was evident in the recent Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka."
Bangladesh open their World T20 campaign against Afghanistan on March 16, in the first round of the competition.
