Mulani and Shaw put Mumbai in position of strength on tricky track

Mumbai finished the fourth day 274 runs in front with four second-innings wickets in hand

Stumps Mumbai 153 for 6 (Shaw 76, Kotian 20*, Jain 4-67, Suthar 2-40) and 537 lead Rest of India 416 (Abhimanyu 191, Jurel 93, Kotian 3-101, Mulani 3-122) by 274 runs
The fourth day of the Irani Cup started with Rest of India well placed to challenge Mumbai's first-innings score of 537, and overnight batters Abhimanyu Easwaran and Dhruv Jurel did well to begin with. Shams Mulani, however, sent them back in back-to-back overs to finish off the fight, and from 393 for 4, Rest of India collapsed to 416 all out. That gave Mumbai a handy lead of 121, which Prithvi Shaw has added to since, putting the team in a strong position to finish on top.
Abhimanyu and Jurel were on 151 and 30 overnight, and Jurel was the quicker of the two on the fourth morning, scoring at 76.85 to get to 93 before Mulani sent him back gloving an attempted sweep through to wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore. That ended the fifth-wicket stand of 165, and one wicket led to another when Abhimanyu also fell to the sweep, sending the ball pitched in the rough outside leg stump to Tanush Kotian at short fine-leg. He fell for 191.

Tristan Stubbs' maiden ODI century set South Africa up for a 174-run win that gave them an unassailable 2-0 series lead against Ireland. Stubbs followed up his maiden ODI fifty in the last game with an unbeaten 81-ball 112 that powered South Africa to 343 for 4 after they won the toss in Abu Dhabi. Lizaad Williams then picked up three wickets, all with the new ball, effectively shutting Ireland out of the contest within the first 10 overs of their chase.
Ireland slid to 117 for 9 and it took the third-highest 10th-wicket stand in Ireland's history, between Graham Hume and Craig Young, to take them to 169.

Mlaba and Wolvaardt-Brits secure effortless opening win for South Africa

Nonkululeko Mlaba devastated West Indies' batters before South Africa's openers coasted home

South Africa 119 for 0 (Wolvaardt 59*, Brits 57*) beat West Indies 118 for 6 (Taylor 44*, Mlaba 4-29, Kapp 2-14) by ten wickets
South Africa reeled off an effortless opening win against West Indies, as the left-arm spin of Nonkululeko Mlaba devastated West Indies' top order, before Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits produced fuss-free unbeaten fifties. The openers walked South Africa home with 13 balls to spare, in the Dubai curtain-raiser for this women's T20 World Cup.
West Indies couldn't really get out of the blocks, with bat or ball. Stafanie Taylor was their top scorer, with 44 not out off 41. But they never seemed like putting up a huge total, and South Africa never seemed at risk of failing to chase it down.

Sarfaraz's historic 221* grinds down Rest of India

Sarfaraz Khan ground down Rest of India (ROI) on day two, becoming the first-ever batter to make a double-century for Mumbai in the Irani Cup. He was part of a 131-run stand with Ajinkya Rahane (97) for the fifth wicket and a 183-run stand with Tanush Kotian (64) for the seventh wicket as ROI toiled away for 138 overs in Lucknow.
The day started with Mumbai on 237 for 4. Sarfaraz and Rahane saw off the first 10 overs of the day before Rahane fell three short of a hundred to a bouncer from Yash Dayal, with the new ball under two overs away from being available.

Rahane and Sarfaraz fifties drive Mumbai on opening day

Three early wickets from Mukesh had Mumbai rattling before Rahane, Shreyas and Safaraz took the team to 237 for 4

Mumbai 237 for 4 (Rahane 86*, Sarfaraz 54*, Shreyas 57, Mukesh 3-60) vs Rest of India
Three early wickets from Mukesh Kumar had Mumbai rattling at 37 for 3, but Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan all stroked composed half-centuries, ensuring they ended day one of the Irani Trophy on the ascendancy. At stumps - after just 68 overs due to bad light - Mumbai were 237 for 4 against Rest of India, with Rahane and Sarfaraz still at the crease.
Mumbai, after being inserted, endured the worst possible start, losing their opener Prithvi Shaw for just 4 after he edged Mukesh to Devdutt Padikkal at second slip. Mukesh would strike again in no time, getting Hardik Tamore caught behind for a duck just two deliveries later. Ayush Mhatre tried to lead a recovery for Mumbai, but Mukesh returned in his second spell and struck immediately, dismissing the batter for 19.

India 285 for 9 dec (Jaiswal 72, Rahul 68, Mehidy 4-41, Shakib 4-78) and 98 for 3 (Jaiswal 51, Kohli 29*, Mehidy 2-44) beat Bangladesh 233 (Mominul 107*, Bumrah 3-50) and 146 (Shadman 50, Bumrah 3-17, Jadeja 3-34, Ashwin 3-50) by seven wickets
Less than 24 hours after sparking off a near-unthinkable push for victory in a game in which only 35 overs had been bowled in the first three days, India's batters completed the task they had started by smashing down their target of 95 in just over an hour. The highlight of India's performance on Tuesday came from another record-breaker from the fourth day; Ravindra Jadeja's triple-strike started a slide for Bangladesh in an extended first session, in which they were bowled out for 146. India lost three wickets in pursuit before Rishabh Pant hit the winning runs in the chase set up by a 43-ball fifty from Yashasvi Jaiswal, and extended their lead at the top of the WTC points table with a 2-0 series sweep.
The 312 balls India batted for in this Test is the second-fewest they have faced - and the fourth-fewest overall - to win a Test match, behind the 281 against South Africa in Cape Town earlier this year.
