Liam Dawson enjoyed a Saturday to remember at Emirates Old Trafford as Hampshire defeated Lancashire by an innings and 37 runs with a day to spare in their Vitality County Championship match.
Having dismissed Lancashire for 200 in their first innings and enforced the follow-on, the visitors bowled Keaton Jennings' side out a second time for 152. Dawson took five for 52 to finish with match figures of 10 for 99, alongside his first-innings century, and Mohammad Abbas bagged three for 18. Luke Wells offered the only significant resistance for the home side with 53.

A maiden century in only his third first-class innings from the 19-year old, locally raised left-hander Freddie McCann helped take Nottinghamshire's reply to 405 at Trent Bridge despite a caree-best seven for 129 from Surrey spinner Will Jacks. Batting again, Surrey ended the third day of their Vitality County Championship match 133 ahead on 13 for 1.
Play was soured in the afternoon, however, when Jacks, selected in both England's white-ball squads for their games against Australia in September, smartly fielded a pull on the bounce at short mid-wicket and threw the ball hard and high towards the wicketkeeper causing McCann to take evasive action.

Double-chasers The Blaze kept alive their chance of qualifying for the knock-out stage of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy with a six-wicket win over Sunrisers at Derby, where they chased down a target of 246 with 39 balls to spare.
Not for the first time, all-rounder Kathryn Bryce was their match-winner, top-scoring with 87 not out for the Charlotte Edwards Cup-holders to go with figures of four for 41 in the Sunrisers innings.

Warwickshire banked their first Vitality County Championship victory of the season in the most emphatic fashion, by an innings and 21 runs over struggling Kent, before lunch on the third day at Edgbaston.
Kent were bowled out in their second innings for 243 on the third morning as Warwickshire's seamers completed the demolition job they start on their opponents on the first day.

For the second time in three days at Lord's, it was all about Joe Root. England's batting bellwether continued a bumper Test match by producing twin tons for the first time in his storied career, his 34th century in the format setting new records for his country - and setting his team on their way towards what would be a series-sealing win.
England began the day in a position of comfort, 256 runs ahead with nine wickets standing, and Root allowed an expectant crowd to drink in the experience of a Lord's Saturday. If there was data on champagne corks popped, Root would probably set have another benchmark. As it was, his innings of 103 was garlanded by several entries in the record books: his seventh Test hundred the most by an individual at Lord's, as he surpassed Graham Gooch as the leading run-scorer on the ground. Alastair Cook's overall England run-scoring records is now less than 100 runs away.

Despite half-centuries from Shan Masood, Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha, and four dropped catches of varying difficulty, Pakistan were bowled out for 274 on the second day of the second Test in Rawalpindi. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz caused the most damage, finishing with figures of 5 for 61.
The Bangladesh openers, Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan, had two overs to face before stumps. Mir Hamza got Shadman to edge the first ball of the innings to fifth slip but Saud Shakeel grassed the chance, letting Bangladesh go back unscathed.

Jonny Bairstow completed an excellent 160, and was usurped by George Hill's career-best 169 not out, on day two at Headingley as Yorkshire topped 600 in their first innings before Middlesex responded encouragingly.
Yorkshire have the advantage at the halfway stage of this Vitality County Championship promotion battle having posted 601 for six declared during the second half of the afternoon. But, given a benign pitch, Middlesex should be confident of claiming a draw having closed on 141 for one from 50 overs.

Colin Ingram became the first batter this summer to reach 1,000 first-class runs as he plundered his fifth century of the season, and his highest score, to put Glamorgan into a commanding position at the end of the second day against Leicestershire as they led by 180 runs.
It was the first time the South African had reached 1,000 first-class runs in a season and after more than six hours of batting he passed his highest score of 190. It had taken him a mere 13 innings to crack the 1,000 runs mark - the quickest by a Glamorgan batter since Majid Khan in 1972.
