Damien Martyn stroked a wonderful 110 to take Western Australia to a five-wicket victory after some early hiccups against Victoria in their ING Cup match at Perth and then took the opportunity to attack the media for its "unfair" treatment of Australian players. WA finished on 5 for 224 after bowling out Victoria for 222 in just 47.3 overs.
Martyn was dropped from the Australian side after averaging just 19.77 with the bat during the Ashes series and came in for some strong criticism in the press. Martyn insists he hasn't made any changes to his batting since arriving back in Australia: "It's the same as England. No different. Better bowlers in England. When I got 1200 runs in a season people asked what was different, but I was batting exactly the same way. It's just cricket. I had a run out and two bad decisions in the Ashes, so anything could've happened. Guys don't bat differently. The game's not easy."

Steve Tikolo, Kenya's captain, powered his side into a dominant position with a stunning 220 on the first day of the Intercontinental Cup semi-final against Bermuda at Windhoek. Kenya declared on 403 for 6 from 79 overs and Bermuda replied with 13 for 1 by the close.
Tikolo came in at 32 for 2 after he had won the toss and elected to bat and was soon joined by No. 5 Hitesh Modi with Kenya looking shaky. The two blasted their team towards 400, with Tikolo hitting his highest first-class score as Bermuda saw their chances of a final place evaporate.
While Tikolo's knock came off just 233 balls with 27 fours and a six, Modi played the straight man. Tikolo declared with Modi unbeaten on 98 from 161 balls with only three boundaries. He was just two runs from his maiden first-class hundred.

KwaZulu-Natal beat Zimbabwe Under-23s by 122 runs at Chatsworth in Durban, after a brave Zimbabwean effort to draw the match failed. The target of 357 was never really in question with the middle order failing for a second time. Zimbabwe did, however, put up some stern resistance as they tried to bat out the final overs. With runs out of the question, occupation of the crease became the prime concern and in the end they will walk away from this match with far more experience and will be a better outfit in their next match. For Natal Tyron Pillay, with his legspinners, took a career best 5 for 45, while M Becker ended his debut with a batting average of 194.
At Kimberley, the bitter rivalry between Griqualand West and Free State ended in a 12-run win for Free State as they bowled Griquas out for 114 in their chase of a mediocre 127-run target. Roger Telemachus and Dillon du Preez put the cat among the pigeons as they took three wickets each to reduce Griquas to 94 for 6. With 33 runs needed the home team should have finished off the game but two further tail-end wickets gave du Preez a career-best haul of 5 for 33, and Griquas had falled 13 runs short of victory.
Border's clash with Boland at East London was called off as a draw after yet more rain prevented Border from starting their second innings. Boland batted through day three as they declared at 322 for 9 with Warren Swan failing by seven runs to complete a maiden hundred. Border used nine bowlers, including nine balls from their keeper, to try and induce a result but on the day the weather was the only winner.

New South Wales' top order all chipped in with useful contributions, helping them pip South Australia by three wickets with just one ball to spare in an ING Cup match at the Bankstown Oval in Sydney. Needing 246 for victory, no-one scored more than Michael Clarke's 55, but all the batsmen made handy additions to the score, ensuring that New South Wales walked away with four points.
Simon Katich, the NSW captain, won the toss and chose to field, and his decision immediately paid off when Matthew Elliott was dismissed by Brett Lee for a fourth-ball duck. Graham Manou, though, held firm, scoring a useful 52, while Darren Lehmann propped up the innings with an enterprising 75, scored from just 83 balls. Lee finished up with 2 for 61, and also struck Jason Gillespie on the ribs, forcing him to go for a precautionary e-ray, while Glenn McGrath was at his stingy best, conceding just 30 from ten overs.

A brilliant, aggressive knock of 73 from Justin Kemp turned a nightmare start for South Africa into a sweet two-wicket victory in the first one-day international at Bloemfontein on Sunday. New Zealand had been on top for much of South Africa's reply, as wickets toppled regularly - but Kemp was his usual demonstrative self, hitting five fours and three sixes in a superbly timed 64-ball innings.
South Africa's openers got off to a rollicking start, aided by Bond whose first ball of the innings was a wide. Three fours were struck in the first over, which cost 17, and two further boundaries by Boeta Dippenaar in the second. The hosts had reached 29 without loss, in under three overs, before Bond got one to nip back sharply to trap Dippenaar in the crease for 10.

Wasim Jaffer followed up his first-innings century with a fluent unbeaten 58 to guide West Zone to a convincing seven-wicket win against South in their Duleep Trophy match in Baroda.
Set 104 for victory, West tottered at the start, losing both openers cheaply for the second time in the match. But Jaffer, who had scored 133 in the first innings, was the hero again as he stemmed the rot and saw the team home with some help from Jacob Martin and Niraj Patel. Jaffer smashed seven fours and two sixes in his knock, and took his tally for the match to 191, out of West Zone's total of 431 runs. Lakshmipathy Balaji kept the fight going for South, taking all three wickets to fall and finished with impressive match figures of 6 for 73, but none of the other bowlers offered him much support in the second innings.

After securing a first innings lead of 52 the Warriors suffered a complete collapse in their second innings as they could only muster 100 runs. Charl Willoughby ran riot taking 5 for 36, with Burton de Wett top-scoring with 29. It took the Cobras only 32 overs to knock off the 153 runs needed to complete victory inside three days, with Andrew Puttick undefeated on 69.
At Durban, the game between the Dolphins and the Lions seems to be heading for a dull draw after the Dolphins came within 56 runs of the 448 scored by the Lions. This despite Garnett Kruger ending the innings with career best figures of 8 for 112. For the Dolphins, Jon Kent contributed 94, Russell Symcox 87 and Hashim Alma 60. At the close, the Lions had scored 116 for 1 with the match heading into the final day.
At Benoni, the Titans did not enforce the follow-on after bowling the Eagles out for 192 and establishing a lead of 246 for the first innings. Dale Steyn was the main wicket taker with 4 for 56, and was assisted with three wickets apiece from Ethy Mbhalati and Alfonso Thomas. Deciding to bat for a second time, the Titans declared at 169 for 4 with Martin van Jaarsveld scoring 70 before being run out. The Eagles' target of 416 looked even further away as they lost Jonathan Beukus and enter the last day on 48 for 1.

Powered by Sathiamoorty Saravanan's 79 off just 73 balls, East Zone galloped to a nine-wicket win in pursuit of 128 against North at Rajkot.
After Sourav Ganguly's marvellous 117 gave East a 113-run lead in the first innings, North needed a special innings by one of their batsmen to pull them out of the woods. Resuming on 106 for 3 on the third day, only Ravneet Ricky (56) went past fifty as North crumbled to 169 for 8 before VRV Singh (47) and Amit Mishra (36 not out) took them to 240. Shib Paul rattled the top order taking 4 for 67.
West Zone 327 and 37 for 2 require another 67 runs to beat South Zone 219 and 211 (Laxman 69, Uthappa 52, Zaheer 6-56)

Jimmy Maher, the Queensland captain, carried on his good form against Tasmania by hitting a defiant 99 to help his team chase down 212 against Tasmania at Brisbane.
Choosing to bat, Tasmania was off to a steady start despite losing Travis Birt, bowled by Andy Bichel for 13. Ricky Ponting, the Tasmanian captain, joined Michael Dighton in a 40-run stand for the second wicket, but both fell in succession to the bowling of Michael Kasprowicz. George Bailey was run-out just after Kasprowicz had Dighton caught by Bichel, and it took crucial knocks from Michael Di Venuto (50) and David Dawson (55), the wicketkeeper, to propel Tasmania past the 200-run mark.
The two yielded a 74-run partnership and looked good for more, but James Hopes, the mediumpace bowler on the fringe of the Australian one-day side, took four wickets to stifle Tasmania at the death. Hopes (4 for 23) and Kasprowicz (2 for 29) were the successful bowlers for Queensland.
