New Zealand have named an unchanged 13-man squad for their second Test against West Indies, which starts at Wellington on Friday. This means Kyle Mills and Jeetan Patel - the two of were left out of playing XI for the first Test - retain their places. As was done last week, two players will be released by the team before the match, allowing them to join their states for domestic matches.
Patel hasn't played a Test yet, and it's highly unlike that he'll make his debut on Friday. Mills, though, might be preferred to James Franklin or Chris Martin. Franklin finished with match figures of 1 for 129, while Martin, despite taking three wickets, didn't impress much with his tendency to repeatedly drop the ball short. Mills's inclusion might also be necessitated by injuries to the bowlers who played at Auckland - Shane Bond, the hero of the game, has a sore knee, while Martin and Franklin are suffering from back and side strains.
The selectors decided to retain the same inexperienced batting line-up which struggled at Auckland - they were four down for 69 and 88 in the two innings.
West Indies have already been hampered by the absence of Ramnaresh Sarwan, who has been ruled out of the rest of the series due to a torn muscle in his left leg. New Zealand lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test by 27 runs.
