Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Scotland left-arm spinner Mark Watt's maiden T20 five-for bundled Netherlands out for 103, setting up a 37-run win for his side in Dubai.
After the first-ball loss of opener Stephan Myburgh, Netherlands' chase recovered as Michael Swart and Ben Cooper struck up 39 runs between the sixth and eighth overs. Watt gave away 15 runs in the seventh over as Swart took two sixes off him, but the momentum slowed down when Cooper fell off the last ball of the eighth over. Netherlands' slide began with two lbws near the halfway mark - Swart fell to Richie Berrington for 26 in the 10th over and Rob Taylor had Peter Borren out for 4 in the next over.
Watt returned to the attack and produced two successive, double-wicket overs leaving Netherlands' chase in shambles. From 55 for 1, Netherlands were toppled for 103, losing their last nine wickets for a mere 48.
Earlier, Matt Machan and Berrington lifted Scotland to 140 for 5 with a 64-run partnership, after the side was struggling at 53 for 3 at the halfway mark. Scotland had opted to bat and the scoreboard was initially kept moving largely by Kyle Coetzer - the batsman had scored 30 of the side's 35 runs by the time he fell in the seventh over. Berrington and Machan then stitched their partnership in 7.4 overs to lift the scoring rate. Machan largely relied on rotating the strike in his 41-ball 43 while Berrington struck six fours in his 22-ball 42.
