India 239 for 9 (Dhar 53, Jalil 5-62) beat Pakistan 159 for 6 by 80 runs
A solid batting performance from the Indian Women, led by a patient half-century from Rumeli Dhar, helped them to a thumping 80-run win over their Pakistan counterparts in the opening game of the Asia Cup at Jaipur.
Choosing to bat first, India were in early trouble at 51 for 4 but were revived by a 105-run stand between Dhar and Hamlata Kala. Following them was a quickfire 45, off just 47 balls, from Amita Sharma who steered them to 239 for 9 at the end of their innings.
Qanita Jalil experienced a bitter-sweet day on the field. She conceded 62 runs in her allotted ten overs, including a generous 16 wides, but ended as the most successful bowler with five wickets. Asmavia Iqbal, her new-ball partner, complemented her wth two wickets.
Pakistan didn't get too much momentum during their run-chase, despite solid 40s from Bismah Maroof and Sajda Shah. India's bowlers switched on their economical mode and Thirush Kamini, with 3 for 19 in her 10 overs, stood out as the most effective.
