Naeem six-for keeps Legends of Rupganj unbeaten

A round-up of the Dhaka Premier Division games played on November 14, 2014

A six-wicket haul from left-arm spinner Naeem Islam jnr helped Legends of Rupganj defend a middling total of 226 and win by 25 runs against Partex Sporting Club. Partex's innings had recovered from 55 for 3 to 182 following a 127-run partnership between Rajin Saleh and Mehrab Hossain jnr. However, once Saleh was dismissed for 105, the innings imploded as Partex lost their last seven wickets for 19 runs and folded for 201.
The Legends of Rupganj innings had moved in fits and starts. Junaid Siddiqui and Ashar Zaidi helped the side recover from a couple of early losses with an 80-run third-wicket stand before a half-century from Faisal Hossain anchored the later part of the innings. The three batsmen were the only ones in the line-up to score more than 40 even as Partex's bowlers split the wickets among them.
Arafat Sunny's 5 for 18 and an unbeaten century from Liam Dawson set up a massive 122-run win for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club over Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the Dhaka Premier Division. Sheikh Jamal were struggling at 76 for 3 before a 98-run partnership between Shahriar Nafees and Dawson rebuilt the innings. Abu Sayeem and Dawson then slammed a few quick runs to help the side post 296 for 5.
Shamsur Rahman tried to steady Kalabagan's chase with a 83-ball 54 but Sunny, with help from the rest of the attack, kept chipping away at the batting order, restricting the side to 174 in the 48th over.
Litton Das' 98 led Abahani Limited to a comfortable eight-wicket win after their bowling attack had skittled Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club for 147. Das' 111-ball effort was studded with 14 fours and a six and his innings took the side to a win in the 38th over.
Earlier, the combined efforts of Al-Amin Hossain, Subashis Roy and Ziaur Rahman had reduced Prime Doleshwar to 86 for 7. It was only a cameo from Habibur Rahman at No. 8 - 41 off 56 balls - that lifted the side past 100. Nazmul Islam then took the last three wickets to bring an end to the innings in the 49th over.
