carves a near yorker on off stump through the covers and that's that. TKR win by the DLS method and remain unbeaten in CPL 2020
"When T20 cricket started, we thought it was a joke but now, everyone wants to play it and Bravo is at the top, with 500 wickets. We as West Indians are very very proud of him," says Kieron Pollard. "And now he's at the stage of his career where he's mentoring the next generation. Oh it's good, sometimes you'll have to help your friends as well [on Pollard being the man Bravo has dismissed the most times in T20s]. The way we gathered our squad, we have kept the core of the team, couple of guys go out, couple of guys come in, they have hunger. Every person has a role here and when they get the opportunity they know exactly what to do. That's why we succeed"
"Congratulations to Bravo. I saw him during the break and we had a chat. What he's done in this format of the game, he's been a pioneer for us in T20 cricket," Daren Sammy says, "[Over-reliance on Nabi?]I think in a team, if someone is in form, most of the time they get the chance to bat in the top five. You want them to continue., But with that said, you need performances coming from different individuals. It's something we'll speak about. I thought up front, before Bravo came on to bowl, we were going 8-9 runs an over on a difficult pitch. Bravo's two quick wickets put us back and as soon as we thought we had a partnership, in comes Pravin Tambe and then the rain comes. So anyway, that's what I told the boys, we fought well, we'll dust ourselves off"
"It's a great result for us," says Man of the Match Dwayne Bravo. "Zouks got off to a very good start in the tournament. We're happy with the win. Man of the match, but it's important for the team. As the rain was falling, Sammy and I was talking, every time we play, it's a rain affected game. I guess I have to say congratulations to myself. I think the entire nation, a lot of people have been saying congratulations. It's a great journey. I want to stay fit, to keep taking wickets and to keep enjoying the game"
2.20 pm Dwayne Bravo. He's 36 now. And he's still desperate to be out there. Plotting the downfall of batsmen half his age. Teaching bowlers who now look up to him because of the career he's put together, through adverse conditions, through injury, through trouble with the board. To last 14 years in this game, and pick up 500 wickets - the very first player to ever get to that mark - you'd have to push past all sorts of obstacles and he's done that. But funnily enough, he ain't ready to stop. He'll fly to the IPL after this. He'll turn up any place a team that wants him will have him and, next year, he'll probably be wearing his favourite maroon jersey at a ground somewhere in India and running in with the T20 World Cup on the line. Incredible player. Or as Deiva Muthu calls him, a T20 phenom
Aside from his landmark, he pushed past it to get wicket no. 501 too, his team put in a stellar performance, restricting the Zouks in a game where they knew rain was expected, and then they just cruised the chase.
low full toss, which he drives to long-off
the free hit ball is a dot as Bravo makes room to lash a near yorker just outside off over point and makes no contact
full toss - a little too high for the umpire's liking - Bravo manages to dab it through the covers and pinch a second. Verrrrry tight call though.
thumps it straight down the ground. Full pace delivery. In the slot for a full swing of the arms and Bravo definitely looks in the mood
yorker on middle, drives it to long-off
walks across his stumps again but this time he can't pull off the scoop
opens the face and slices a length ball over cover
Sooryanarayanan: "With Harry Gurney ruled out of the IPL for KKR, I have a feeling that the replacement is someone from the CPL roster. After all, Brendon McCullum is the coach of TKR. My guesses - Naveen Ul Haq, Kesrick Williams or Kuggeleijn"
swings a short ball out to deep square leg
legcutter, keeping it away from the reach of Seifert, who goes hard at the ball and only gets an outside edge that dribbles to the keeper
he's picked this up beautifully! Bravo's 100th six in CPL! How bout that. Both the brothers have a record to celebrate today. Slower ball again from Williamson, but Bravo is ready this time, holding his shape better, even though he is made to reach just a tiny bit further than he'd like outside off. Still the ball soars off his bat, over deep midwicket,
nearly bowls him! Williams' offcutter is too good for Bravo looking for a boundary over midwicket.
runs across his crease, and then crouches low to get underneath a very full ball, very wide of off stump and then scoops it over short fine leg. These are a batsman's go-to shots under pressure now. Incredible.
gets done by the slower ball outside off again.
smears a near yorker on middle and off to the sweeper
shapes to hoick a slower ball outside off over the leg side and comes up second best
taps a short ball behind point
cuts to the sweeper
AlistairDiamond: "I have always thought that in truncated games sides should lose available batsmen. It's much easier for 11 men to score 60 in 5 overs than it is for them to score 160 in 20 overs. But if 2 batters were removed per 5 overs lost, then things would get interesting. Here, for example, the Knight Riders would have 35 to get in 30 balls but with only 2 wickets in hand, as opposed to 6. It would make a difference!"
Gururaj: "This kid Chemar looks something special. Hope to see him in the long format pretty soon for WI.. "
