Dockrell finishes the game off in style. Down on one knee and slog sweeps the ball high over cow corner. The Umpire raises both hands in the air and the Lightning win!
Knights vs Leinster, 3rd Match at Wicklow, INTER-PRO, May 13 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Leinster won by 4 wickets (with 23 balls remaining)
Once again it goes to show that a low scoring game can be a thriller too. When the home team were 12 for 4, and 52 for 5, the Lightning where in need of a hero and that's exactaly what they found in former Captain Dockrell.
A 82 run partnership with Gavin Hoey for the sixth wicket, and 76 for the seventh wicket with Barry McCarthy meant that the Lightning reached their target with 23 balls to spare
It was fitting that Dockrell finished the game off with a six, bringing up his highest List A score and propel the Lightning to a four wicket win.
It did feel that the Knights were probably a bowler short, and once the Lightning saw out Robertson and Humphreys, their task got a lot easier. Those early wickets certainly will fill a long way away now.
With four points for the win, the Lightning now sit clear at the top of the table. The great news is that the next round of days is only a couple of days away, so hopefully you'll be able to join me on Thursda, Knights vs the Reds at Stormont
Until then, this is Justin Smyth saying goodnight from a sunny Oakhill
