Old DOHS lose sixth straight game

A five-wicket haul from Mostafizur Rahman, followed by fifties from Nasir Hossain and Chamara Silva helped Abahani Limited beat Kalabagan Krira Chakra by six wickets in Fatullah. Batting first, Kalabagan were pegged back by wickets at regular intervals, and their only notable stand was a 60-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Jehan Mubarak (32) and Tasamul Haque (40). However, with no other batsman crossing 26, Mostafizur's 5 for 32 ensured that Kalabagan were kept to 189 for 9. Abahani were precariously placed at 74 for 4 in the chase, but Nasir and Silva's unbroken partnership worth 119 guided the team home in 42 overs. Half-centuries from the Mohammedan Sporting Club batsmen Mohammad Mithun and Naeem Islam sent Old DOHS Sports Club crashing towards their sixth consecutive defeat in the tournament, in Savar. Batting first, Mohammedan posted 250 for 8 on the back of a 79-run partnership for the third wicket between Mithun and Islam. Mithun made 54, with four fours and a six, while Islam's 47-ball 51 included five fours and a six. For Old DOHS, Abu Jayed and Saleh Ahmed Shawon snared three wickets apiece. Opener Shanaj Ahmed led Old DOHS' reply with 55, and Ahsanul Haque chipped in with 48, but incisive bowling from Mohammedan kept the run-rate at less than five an over. Ahsanul and Nihaduzzaman shared in a 71-run stand for the sixth wicket, but the absence of any other significant stand hurt the team. Ariful Haque picked up 3 for 22, while Murad Khan ended with 2 for 36, as Old DOHS could only make 201 for 8 from their 50 overs and lost by 49 runs.

A four-for from the seamer Abu Haider, and an unbeaten 87 from Dhiman Ghosh were the cornerstones behind Victoria Sporting Club's seven-wicket victory against Partex Sporting Club. Having been inserted, Mehrab Hossain jnr powered PSC's innings with 65, but no other batsman was able to score more than 30. Haider took 4 for 38, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Suhrawadi Shuvo took two wickets apiece, as PSC were bowled out for 183 in 47.4 overs. Victoria lost two early wickets in the chase, but Ghosh and Nadif Chowdhury (43) put up an unbroken stand of 101 for the fourth wicket, helping the team home inside 46 overs.
