That's it! Smacked over the bowler's head for a boundary and he seals the game in style! Slow ball outside leg and Zulkifal goes downtown, no need to run for it as he screams in exultation and Sharks are through to the final of PJL
Royals vs Sharks, Qualifier 1 at Lahore, PJL, Oct 18 2022 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Sharks won by 8 wickets (with 10 balls remaining)
Gwadar Sharks register a clinical win in Qualifier 1 of the first edition of the Pakistan Junior League. Sharks didn't look in trouble during the chase as 140 was never going to be enough on a surface which had plenty of assistance for the batters. Luc Martin Benkenstein came, saw and conquered; he made his intentions clear right from the word go and was striking the ball effortlessly. His quickfire 71 off 37 deliveries took all the pressure off the Sharks. Thereon, Mohammad Zulkifal paced his innings brilliantly and made sure to stay till the end.
Royals' innings never really took off as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Their in-form batter Basit Ali struggled to get going and the run rate was slow as the Sharks' bowling attack kept things tight throughout the 20 overs. Muhammad Ismail was the pick of the bowlers with his brilliant spell in which he only conceded 14 runs and shed three wickets while Arafat Minhas continues to have a fabulous tournament; he finished his spell with a wicket and only leaked 19 runs. In reply, Benkenstein and Zulkifal never looked ruffled and there was no scoreboard pressure which allowed them to play freely. Apart from Nathan Edward, nobody from Royals looked ominous. Without the early wickets, it was always going to be difficult to defend a sub-par total.
That's it from tonight's coverage of the first PJL Qualifier. We look forward to your company tomorrow when third-placed Rawalpindi Raiders face fourth-placed Mardan Warriors in the Eliminator. For now, it's goodbye from Rvel Zahid.
