Bangladesh Under-19 228 for 7 (Majumder 102) beat Sri Lanka Under-19 227 (Kushal Perera 52, Hasan 3-32) by three wickets
Scorecard
Bangladesh Under-19 won the dead rubber as well, thus sending their Sri Lankan counterparts home with a 4-1 series defeat. Starring with the first century of the five-match series was Amit Majumder, whose 109 was a key component of Bangladesh's successful chase of 228.
Majumder stood firm at the top even as Bangladesh slipped to 16 for 2. He and Anamul Haque (38) added 132 for the third wicket, during which Majumder raised three figures. However, Bangladesh lost both at the same score, after which Sabbir Rahman (37) and Taibur Rahman (27*) helped finish with 13 deliveries remaining.
This was ultimately a win fashioned in the field. Sri Lanka chose to bat first but did not get the desired start, losing their captain Dinesh Chandimal to the third ball of the innings; tellingly, it was the second game in a row that he was out in the opening over. Abul Hasan then added a second wicket to leave Sri Lanka 17 for 2.
Banuka Rajapaksha swung his bat around for 36 from 25 balls, but the main contribution came from Kushal Janith Perera who, for the second game running, buckled down and played a sensible innings. His 52 off 80 balls was the only half-century of the innings, and after he was gone Chathura Peiris' unbeaten 30 helped the score over 200. The offspinner Mahmudul Hasan had the best figures of 3 for 32 from his ten overs.
