Off-spinning all-rounder Thilan Samaraweera has broken a finger, quashing
hopes of an international return during the forthcoming test series against
New Zealand.
Samaraweera, who was leading Sri Lanka A against a Board Under 23 XI in a
domestic quadrangular tournament match, had his little finger smashed whilst
batting.
Early diagnosis suggests four weeks out of the game, which will rule him out
of the two Test series against New Zealand starting April 25.
The 26-year-old has already played 10 Test matches, after which he averages
83.00 having scored two centuries and three fifties during an astonishing
start to his career.
