AB de Villiers, the South Africa and Nashua Titans batsman, has been released from the one-day International squad against New Zealand in order for him to play for the Titans this weekend. Haroon Lorgat, the Convenor of Selectors, released de Villiers so that he could play in the opening four-day SuperSport Series match between the Titans and the Eagles at Willowmore Park in Benoni starting October 20.
"It's important that AB plays as much competitive cricket as possible, and we know that we will start the ODI series with the same team that played against the West Indies," said Lorgat, according to a media release.
De Villiers will return to the national side after missing the first Pro20 international match against New Zealand at Wanderers on October 21, as well as the first one-day match to be played in Bloemfontein on October 23.
