Former England batsman Mark Butcher has signed a new one-year deal with County
Champions Surrey.
The left-hander, who took over the England captaincy for one Test against New
Zealand in 1999 due to an injury to Nasser Hussain, was out of contract at The
Oval.
Earlier this summer, he was rumoured to be leaving Surrey after a frustrating start to the season and was heading across London to Division Two side
Middlesex but he denied the rumours and has now extended his stay at Surrey by a further year.
