Surrey 298 for 5 beat Glamorgan 240 by 58 runs at Croydon
Scorecard
A quickfire century from Mark Ramprakash, and an unbeaten 77 from 72 balls from Graham Thorpe, put Surrey out of reach against Glamorgan at Croydon. Ramprakash, who made 101 from 93 balls, was the backbone of a sturdy total of 298 for 5, and despite the best efforts of Michael Powell and Matthew Maynard, Glamorgan never came close. Powell and Maynard added 83 for the third wicket, after Robert Croft had smacked a run-a-ball 31. Adam Hollioake wrapped up the match with three wickets in as many overs.
Yorkshire 171 for 7 beat Worcestershire 170 by three wickets at Scarborough
Scorecard
Kabir Ali and Nantie Hayward pushed Yorkshire all the way with three wickets apiece, but in the end, Worcestershire's disappointing total of 170 made the difference in a tense encounter at Scarborough. Worcestershire won the toss and batted first, but were quickly reduced to 43 for 4 by Steve Kirby, who will have been watching Steve Harmison's tightening calf with interest, given that the Headingley Test is just around the corner. Ben Smith pieced the innings together with a gritty 56, and Steve Rhodes added 35 not out from No. 8, but it was never going to be enough.

Hampshire 162 for 4 beat Derbyshire 158 for 9 by six wickets at the Rose Bowl
Scorecard
Chris Tremlett bowled Hampshire to a simple six-wicket victory with figures of 4 for 26, as Derbyshire were restricted to 158 for 9 at the Rose Bowl. Tremlett built on some fine work from Dmitri Mascarenhas and Allan Mullally, who had picked off three early wickets, and only Dominic Cork could break the shackles with 52-ball 49 from No. 7. Hampshire needed just 35.4 overs to achieve their target, with contributions from each of the top four, and a brisk 28 not out from Mascarenhas.
Middlesex 300 for 4 beat Nottinghamshire 263 by 37 runs at Lord's
Scorecard
Middlesex's batsmen had a field day at Lord's as Nottinghamshire conceded 300 for 4 after winning the toss and opting to bowl. Owais Shah led the rout with 91 not out from a mere 56 balls, and he was ably backed up by Paul Weekes' 72 and a round half-century from Chad Keegan. Notts made a spirited reply, but risks had to be taken and no-one was able to make more than 38. Keegan capitalised with figures of 3 for 38.

England Women 148 for 1 beat South Africa Women 147 by nine wickets at Cardiff
Scorecard
Claire Taylor and Laura Newton sealed an emphatic nine-wicket victory at Cardiff as England's women prepared for next week's decisive second Test with a 2-1 win in the one-day series. South Africa had held their nerve to draw level in Saturday's thriller at Bristol, but they were unable to touch those heights again and slumped to 147 all out after winning the toss and batting. Alison Hodgkinson top-scored with an unbeaten 52, but she was left high and dry as Rosalie Birch ripped out the tail with figures of 4 for 22. England lost Charlotte Edwards early, but Taylor and Newton cruised to victory with an unbeaten 113-run partnership.
