Davies replaces Read for England A

Steven Davies, Worcestershire's wicketkeeper, has been called up to the England A squad in West Indies as a replacement for Chris Read, who is returning to England to join his family after a serious burglary.

Davies, 19, will join for the squad for the final four one-day matches of the tour. He has been tipped to have an impressive future in the game after moving through the England age-group set up. At first-class level he already has a high score of 148, against Somerset in 2005, and an average of 34.

He was part of Academy intake for this winter, but narrowly missed out on a place in the original squad for the West Indies trip.
