Dr Ali Bacher, the Executive Director of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, today confirmed that he had received a request from the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mr Jagmohan Dalmiya, to change the second semi final in Durban from a Day/Night fixture to a Day game.
"Mr Dalmiya sent me a letter earlier today asking for a change of format for the match at Kingsmead, and I later spoke to him on the telephone about the issue," said Dr Bacher.
"I have agreed to consider, with colleagues at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 office, the implications of the BCCI's request, and have undertaken to respond to Mr Dalmiya on Friday afternoon (South Africa time), with an answer.
"Mr Dalmiya has assured me that he and the BCCI will accept whatever decision I and my colleagues from the Cricket World Cup Organising Committee reach on the matter," confirmed Dr Bacher.
