England delay naming one-day squad

The ICC has granted England dispensation to delay naming their Champions Trophy squad until after the NatWest Series against Pakistan.

The original deadline was this Thursday (September 7) but England now have an extra three days to evaluate their plans.

"We are extremely grateful to the ICC for this concession," chairman of selectors David Graveney said, but he refused to be drawn on the question of who would lead the side. "The selectors haven't even discussed the question of the captaincy yet."

England's selectors are waiting to see how several injured players progress, particularly Steve Harmison and Andrew Flintoff.
