†ENGLAND v WEST INDIES 1984

At Nottingham, June 2

15-Apr-1985
At Nottingham, June 2. England won by three wickets. As they had done two days before, England's bowlers were soon working their way through the early West Indian batting, after Gower had won the toss. This time Richards failed to break their grip. Only Lloyd came near to doing this, and he was out to a good running catch at long-on with eleven overs left. Overnight rain had delayed the start by half an hour and caused the match to be reduced to 50 overs a side. Pringle had a hand in five of the first six West Indian wickets to fall, including Richards's caught at short fine leg off a mistimed sweep. An opening partnership of 75 in 24 overs by Fowler and Lloyd, in which they eventually reached their target, with thirteen balls remaining, was far from convincing.
Man of the Match: D. R. Pringle. Attendance: 11,218; receipts: £75,563.
