First innings results only in Napier at Under-17 tournament

Central and Northern Districts and Wellington each took first innings points from first round games in the national Under-17 cricket tournament at Nelson Park in Napier today.

CD scored 276/8 when replying to Canterbury's 200. P Pimm scored 69, D Bolstad 68 and M Sim 46 while W Smart took four for 24 and B Newton three for 38.

ND bowled Otago out for 161 in their first innings, after declaring at 296/9. T Davis took three for 33 but Otago did much better in their second innings and when play ended they were 89/2 with T McLean scored 47 not out and H King was 30 not out.

Wellington replied to Auckland's 141 with 205/9 before declaring. In their second innings Auckland were 160/4 with D Winger scoring 56 not out, C Flaherty 31 not out, S McKay 50 while S Rennie took two for 12 and S Nightingale took two for 22.
