Champions Hastings Priory head the Sussex ECB Premier League by 19 points
from Crowborough - with both clubs having four games to play.
But Brighton and Hove have a game in hand, they have to play five matches.
Three Bridges, with six games left, could yet be in contention.
Hastings found it a little close for comfort in winning by just two wickets
at Eastbourne on Saturday where runs were again hard to come by on the
Saffrons.
Michael Stevens led the way for Eastbourne with 71 and young Aussie Tim
Ambrose made 51 in a total of 193 for 8 declared.
The spin of James Chaplin provided the main threat for Hastings as he took 6
for 55 in 27 overs.
Hastings opener George Campbell then made 54 and Mike Yardy 39 in the run
chase to victory at 196 for 8 as Roger Myall, John Lord and Michael Stevens
each took two wickets.
Crowborough skipper Andy Cornford and Pakistani all rounder Naeem Akhtar
shared the honours in a 77 run win at Chichester to give their side a
seventh League win of the season.
Cornford hit 101 and Akhtar 66 as Crowborough cruised to 251 for 7 declared.
Chichester were dismissed for 174 as Akhtar returned figures of 8 for 51 to
take his League wickets to 47 this season, for Chichester Kirat Damani was
top scorer, he made 92.
Third placed Brighton and Hove won by three wickets at Haywards Heath after
the home side had declared at 211 for 9. Steve Moore hit 78 and Carl
Hopkinson 40 as Andy Sartor proved the most successful of the visiting
bowlers with 4 for 56.
Sartor also played a part with the bat as top scorer with 49 not out and
Neil Marchant made 36, the pick of the Heath bowlers was Tim Edmunds who
took 3 for 58.
