England pulled off an innings win over South Africa in the second Test with the captain Ben Stokes ending a dogged stand between Keegan Petersen and Rassie van der Dussen - who seemed like they might yet craft a miraculous turnaround - to spark a collapse after tea on the third day. It was Ben Stokes' week, says Vithushan Ehantharajah, and the captain has never seemed more at ease with himself.
Afghanistan made it two in two at the Asia Cup, routing Sri Lanka and beating Bangladesh after a tense chase to become the first team into the Super 4 round. It was a reminder that while much has changed in the country and its governance, and its cricket faces a unique set of challenges, the love for the game remains unchanged.
The Asia Cup's first India-Pakistan match of this edition was one for the ages, with Hardik Pandya clinching a tense win for India.
