Alastair Cook announces his retirement from international cricket
Record-breaking England opener Alastair Cook announced that the ongoing England-India Test at The Oval will be his final international cricket match. Despite his loss of form in recent years, the 33-year-old remains England's leading run-getter in Tests and tributes have poured in for his monumental career - everyone from mentor Graham Gooch and captain Joe Root to the Indian team tipped their hats to him. Cook is now reportedly looking to make a swift move to the commentary box and will continue playing for Essex.

Pakistan Cricket Board gets a new chairman
Former ICC chairman Ehsan Mani was formally elected chairman of the PCB this week, after he was nominated for the post by Pakistan's new prime minister (and PCB patron) Imran Khan. Mani said his first point of focus will be the legal battle with the BCCI over two unplayed bilateral series. He's also looking to revamp domestic cricket in Pakistan, and has moved to remove the quartet of advisors to the PCB, including Shoaib Akhtar.

Thirteen years to the day he made his debut for India in an ODI against Zimbabwe, former pacer RP Singh has announced his retirement from international cricket. The 32-year old played 82 matches across formats for India between 2005 and 2011.

Also joining the team is former New Zealand allrounder Grant Bradburn, who has been appointed Pakistan's fielding coach after the departure of Steve Rixon.
