India are 8/11 favourites (1.72) to beat Pakistan in the Jubilee one-day international at Kolkata on Saturday. Pakistan, in spite of consecutive one-day victories against India, are evens (2.0).
India have won just four of the last ten matches between these two sides, and come in to the match on the back of three consecutive defeats, in places as far-flung as Colombo, Amsterdam and Birmingham.
India's highly rated batting order has been out of sorts for a while now. Their only century in the series against Australia was scored by Virender Sehwag, although Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman showed some signs of form in the final Test. Sehwag - who's now ranked higher than Tendulkar in the PwC Ratings - is still behind his mentor in the Top India Batsman betting. Sehwag is 7/2 (4.5) with Tendulkar 11/4 (3.75). Yuvraj Singh is worth a look as an outside bet - he is 8/1 (9.0) to top-score for India.
When looking at the likely top-scorer for Pakistan, it is useful to examine matchwinning performances in recent matches between the sides. In the last encounter, in the ICC Champions Trophy, Yousuf Youhana was the hero for Pakistan, scoring a matchwinning undefeated 81. Youhana is 7/2 (4.5) second favourite - behind his captain Inzamam-ul-Haq (10/3 - 4.33) in the Top Pakistan Batsman betting.
Shoaib Malik was the Man of the Match in the Asia Cup final with a tremendous 143 in what turned out to be an unassailable total of 300. Shoaib Malik again prevailed in a rain-shortened match in Holland with a significant innings of 68. He seems an excellent bet at 9/2 (5.5).
