India v Zimbabwe, 2013

Wisden's review of the second ODI, India v Zimbabwe, 2013

15-Apr-2014
At Harare, July 26, 2013. Second one-day international: India won by 58 runs. India 294-8 (50 overs) (S. Dhawan 116, K. D. Karthik 69); ‡Zimbabwe 236-9 (50 overs) (V. Sibanda 55, H. Masakadza 34, E. Chigumbura 46, P. Utseya 52*; J. D. Unadkat 4-41). MoM: S. Dhawan. Zimbabwe twice found themselves on top, but lacked the mettle to ram home the advantage. Brian Vitori struck with his first ball of the series, tempting Rohit Sharma to chase a wide one, and India were wobbling at 65-4 in the 17th over. But Shikhar Dhawan got a raft of let-offs: he was caught behind from a Kyle Jarvis no-ball on three, then dropped on 14 and 70. He punished anything loose and, alongside the secure Dinesh Karthik, blasted India to an unassailable score with his third ODI century in six weeks. Sibanda cheerily took on the short stuff, but his dismissal at 109-2 triggered a Zimbabwe collapse of five for 24.
