Indian tour itinerary in final stages: Majid

KARACHI, May 22: Pakistan cricket team's tour itinerary for next year's visit of India was in final stages with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hoping that the trip was on despite political uncertainty.

The chief executive of the PCB, Majid Khan, said from Lahore that he has received a tentative itinerary of the tour from his Indian counterpart.

"We have received it and are working on it. The tentative itinerary, however, does not include the venues where Pakistan would be playing their matches," Majid said.

Pakistan is scheduled to tour India for five Tests and six limited overs internationals between January and March next year.

"We have offered a couple of suggestions which would be included when the draft is returned (to them)," he said, adding: "The recommendations cannot be released now."

Investigations, however, reveal that the PCB has requested its counterpart for a continuity in matches. The PCB wants to play Test matches first before entering the one-day series. The move will provide a continuity to the preparations for next April's Sharjah Cup which will be followed by the World Cup in England.

"We have to complete our homework and then wait for instructions from the government," he said.

Majid disclosed that next month's International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting will be followed by the PILCOM and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meetings.

The ICC meeting will be held at Lord's between June 8 and 14 in which the game's governing body will be meeting with a heavy but routine agenda. However, Majid said since the ICC was now a company, there were several committees which will discuss relevant issues. "The ICC's development, cricket, management committees will meet and take decisions," said the PCB chief executive. "The budget of the previous season and the coming one will also be approved."

Majid said the ACC meeting, would discuss the ACC Trophy (played between the associate members) and the Asia Cup "which will be organised by Bangladesh next year."
