When a dismal situation threw the national side towards an
uncertainty, the West Indies "A" team arrrived in Dhaka on Friday and
highly praised their senior team for a good performance in the
just-completed Wills International Cup.
"Our national team played very well in the Wills International Cup and
they reached the final. We are inspired by their performance," said
"A" team captain Ian Bishop.
"We have lot of talented cricketers in the team. Each of our teammates
will try to show their best and hope for a chance in the main national
side," said the experienced fast bowler.
Practicing at Bangabadhu National Stadium in the afternoon, the West
Indies A skipper promised exciting cricket with Bangladesh saying they
know there will be big crowd for the matches.
Bangladesh national side take on the touring West Indies A team in the
first limited over cricket match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium
on Saturday. The day-night match will start at 2 pm.
Bishop said they expect a very good match with Bangladesh, who are the
ICC Trophy champions and due to play in the 1999 England World Cup.
During their 10-day visit, the Caribbean side will play two more
limited over matches, including one at northern Rajshahi, and a
three-dayer in the capital Dhaka.
The 14-member West Indies A team arrived in Dhaka Friday morning.
Three others Reon King, Rawl Lewis and Neil McGarrell, who were part
of the West Indies team in the Wills International Cup, stayed back
here.
Former West Indian spinner Roger Harper will look as manager until
full time manager Joel Garner joins the team in about a week. The
junior Calypsos will fly to India after touring Bangladesh.

Reon King, Carl Tuckett, Rawl Lewis, Pedro Collins, Richard Smith,
Floyd Reifer, Wayne Philip, Neil McGarrell, Adrian Griffith, Wavell
