Samir Inamdar, Cricket Kenya's chairman, has revealed plans to ensure that Kenya are prepared for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers next April.
Kenya suffered a series of setbacks in 2008, but Inamdar made clear that the side would be ready by the time of the tournament. "There's no need to worry about the team's preparations. We have short-term plans in place for the team to enable them qualify for the World Cup. The team is expected to resume training on January 5 and we have organised for them to train at a high performance centre in Pretoria before the World Cup Qualifiers."
Kenya start with five ODIs against Zimbabwe in Mombasa and Nairobi at the end of January before heading to Pretoria. They then return home for a short spell before heading back to South Africa for some preparatory one-day games ahead of the tournament itself.
Inamdar added that there were also plans for Peter Kirsten to join the squad as a batting coach in the build-up to the competition.
