Rain denies Chorley

The rain which completely washed out five of the six fixtures in the
Northern League on Saturday left the placings at the top of the table
unchanged.
With no play possible in either Netherfield's match at Preston or
Chorley's game at Morecambe, Netherfield thus retain the championship
by a three-point margin over Chorley, runners-up again for the sixth
time in eight years.
The only match to start was at Leyland DAF where the home side
collected four points from a rain-affected winning draw against
Lancaster but these were not enough to lift DAF above third place.
It was a double frustrating end to the season for Chorley because
under the new points system they missed out on the title despite
winning more games than any of their rivals. Ironically last year they
finished level on points with Netherfield but were pipped for the
championship because the Kendal side had won one more.
