A fine half century by Suresh Liyanage enabled the touring Lanka Lions
Sports Club from Australia to beat the Badulla President's XI by 47 runs
in an exhibition limited-over cricket encounter played at the Badulla
Esplanade.
Lanka Lions batting first scored 233 runs for 5 wickets in 30 overs,
while Badulla President's XI were able to score only 186 runs for 7
wickets in spite a superb first wicket partnership of 90 runs by M. H.
Hyder (47) and S. Dayaratne (45).

The two teams also participated in a six-a-side encounter immediately
after the encounter at the same venue and here again the visitors beat
by 28 runs.
