Massive victory for Sri Lanka

Defending champions Sri Lanka scored a crushing 296- run victory over Malaysia in the Under-17 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament at Dhanmondi Stadium in Dhaka (Bangladesh) on Saturday.

According to details available here, Sri Lanka, who elected to bat first, made 335 for five in their quota of 45 overs. Skipper M.S.R. Wijeratne hammered 101 off 108 deliveries with eight fours while K.D. Gunawardena spanked 95 off just 65 balls with 17 boundaries. Wicket keeper de Silva hit four fours in making 44 off 58 balls.

Malaysia, in reply, crashed to 39 all out in 13.4 overs. Opener E. Abdul Aziz (16) was the only batsman to reach double figures.

I. Dilshan captured four wickets for two runs in 2.4 overs. T.N. Perera claimed three for 12.

On Friday, Pakistan overcame Nepal by 23 runs in a Group 'B' match.

Pakistan, who were sent in, were all out for 180 in 42.3 overs. Allrounder Salman Qadir hit 52 off 50 balls with three fours and two sixes. Azhar Ali then took four for 55 as Nepal were restricted to 157 in 44.1 overs.

In other matches played on Friday, Sri Lanka thrashed United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 234 runs and hosts Bangladesh humiliated Singapore by 345 runs.
