New Zealand beat Tasmania by four runs in a limited-overs practice cricket match at Alan Davidson Oval here today to continue an ideal lead-up for the Kiwis' ICC Champions Trophy title defence in Sri Lanka this month.
New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram and fast bowler Daryl Tuffey took four wickets each as Tasmania collapsed to be all out for 182 in reply to New Zealand's 186.
Oram (4-23) combined with Tuffey (4-47) after also hitting 28 to help prop up the New Zealand innings following a top-order collapse against the Tasmanians.
Only five players made it into double figures with Mathew Sinclair (37) and Glen Sulzberger (37 not out) top scoring for the Black Caps.
Shane Jurgensen was the main destroyer for Tasmania, taking 4-20 off 10 overs.
But New Zealand looked to have the game under control after reducing the Tasmanians to 8-117 in the 29th over until Luke Williams and David Saker put on 51 for the ninth wicket.
They took the total to 8-168 before Oram was reintroduced to the attack and promptly cleaned up the tail.
Oram bowled Williams for 32 while Saker remained unbeaten on 34.
New Zealand beat New South Wales by six wickets yesterday in the first of its warm-up matches.
It was scheduled to play both sides again in Sydney this week before flying to Sri Lanka on Saturday.
