Three cricket stalwarts captain Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram
and opener Saeed Anwar will lead a fund raising campaign for
the Afghan refugees.
Speaking to journalists at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday,
the cricketers vowed for a vigorous campaign for the Afghan
muslims and appealed to all the countrymen to take part in
it.
They said that special counters would be set up at all the
cities with the collaboration of chief nazims to receive
donations. They also appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board
chairman and the sports legends of other games like Jahangir
Khan to join hands with them for this noble cause.
Waqar said that the entire Pakistan cricket team would visit
some cities to collect the funds.
Saeed said that Inzamam-ul-Haq had paid Rs 1,00,000 while
Azhar Mahmood donated $ 1,000. The other members of the team
would also make contribution.
Wasim said some matches in small cities might be held to
raise funds.
The donors could donate hard cash, clothes and all necessary
commodities, they said.
