Durham County Cricket Club is offering all cricket fans the chance of a lifetime - to play for Durham in one of the biggest games of the season

Durham County Cricket Club is offering all cricket fans the chance of a lifetime - to play for Durham in one of the biggest games of the season.
Lashings World XI visit the Riverside on Wednesday 7 August when they take on Durham XI, but Durham are one player short.
We're offering one lucky cricket fan the chance to walk on to the pitch with the rest of the Durham team in front of a 5,000 strong crowd and actually play for Durham against cricketing legends such as Sir Viv Richards and Brian Lara. They will walk out on the same pitch that will welcome England and India this Thursday.
Entrants don't need to be Durham fans or even good cricketers. This competition is open to anyone between the age of 18-50 who's passionate about cricket and would like the chance to be a 'pro for a day'. Fans can nominate themselves, a member of their family or a friend.
The winner will receive their very own Durham kit, including a shirt with their own squad number. As well as that they'll get to meet the team, and we'll put the winner and a friend up in a hotel before and after the game.
This chance of lifetime is simple to enter. There are two ways of entering; either by application form at the One-Day International or by visiting www.proforaday.co.uk.
Richie Richardson, who has captained the Lashings side thinks the competition is a great idea, saying: "What a great chance for any young player wanting to make his mark and be the best he possibly can."
David Folb, the entrepreneur behind Lashings said: "Any cricket fan would love the chance to play against the Lashings world XI team; it really would be a dream come true for the lucky winner."
Durham CCC will also offer a fantastic U18s prize, where the lucky winner will get the chance to walk the teams onto the pitch for the Lashings game.
The closing date for entries is 29 July 2002, when a winner will be drawn at random.
