The women selectors have announced the following squad to travel to Singapore to play in a Women's U21 T20 cricket tournament, organised by the Singapore Cricket Association.
The Hong Kong team is:
  • Keenu Gill (Captain)
  • Betty Chan (Vice Captain)
  • Mariko Hill
  • Amanda Kwok
  • Yasmin Daswani
  • Natural Yip (wk)
  • Priya Jain
  • Annie Ho
  • Shanzeen Shazad
  • Pull To
  • Godiva Li
  • Kary Chan
  • Jaswinder Kaur
The Hong Kong Women's U21 side was put together as part of the Women's High Performance Program. The team will be the basis of a core group of young female players that will hopefully move Hong Kong forward in the coming 10 years, including the 2014 Asian Games.
In announcing the squad, National Coach Charlie Burke said, "The fact majority of this group is between 17 and 20 years old is exciting for Women's cricket but I want to start seeing these players perform without the more experienced players."
"The recent U21 Elite Player Series gave myself and other coaches an opportunity to see where we are at after a disappointing ACC U19 tournament. Some of those players have clearly developed since February but there is still a long way to go before I feel comfortable knowing we are moving forward," he added.
"The side will be lead by Keenu Gill who has represented Hong Kong for a number of years. It is great to see Godiva Li back after her knee surgery and I'm looking forward to seeing some good performances from the likes of Mariko Hill and Yasmin Daswani. Kary Chan is a player that I believe could play for Hong Kong in the 2014 Asian Games as well as Pull To who are both new to the game in the last few seasons."
Hong Kong will play against Singapore, Thailand, Japan and a team from Australia in the July 3-5 tournament hosted by the Singapore Cricket Association.
Officials traveling with the team will be:
  • Charlie Burke (Coach / Manager)
  • Siheng Ge (Development Coach)
  • Eunice Ee (Physio)
