Five concrete wickets will be opened in Badulla District on Oct.

Five out of ten concrete side wickets constructed at a cost of nearly
Rs. 800,000 in Badulla district will be declared open by the Sri
Lanka's ace wicket keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana and spinner Upul
Chandana next Friday, October 16.
Elaborate arrangements have been made by the Regional 5 of the Board
of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka and the Badulla District Cricket
Association to receive the two Sri Lanka cricketers. Romesh
Kaluwitharana and Upul Chandana will be received at the Badulla
Esplanade, and then they will be taken in procession to Badulla
Central College where they will declare open the two side concrete
wickets. Later they will proceed to Saraswathy National School at
Badulla and then to Hali-Ela and declare open the side concrete
wickets. After lunch, they will proceed to Bandarawela to declare
open the side wickets installed at Bandarawela Central College.
Side concrete wickets at Passara Central College , Welimada Central
College, Kandegedera MMV, Kandekitiya MV and Mahiyangana MMV are
under construction and will be declared open later this month
according to the secretary of the Region 5 R. M. U. Ratnayake.
The school children in the area are full of praise for president of
the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka Thilange Sumathipala
for his prompt action in constructing these concrete side wickets in
Badulla District within a short period of time.
