A fine century by kalutara Vidyalaya's Susantha Pradeep (106) was the
highlight of the Battle of the Mangosteens against Tissa MMV which
ended in a draw at the Kalutara Esplanade yesterday.

SSC were 81 for one wicket in 19 overs when play was stopped at 3.00
pm due to rain in their Premier Division one match against Matara SC
which began at Uyanwatte Stadium Matara yesterday.
Play began only at 1.30 pm due to overnight rain and SSC had scored
81 for one with Avishka Gunawardena making 41 when play was stopped
at 3 pm due to rain.
Saman Jayantha - a sparkling 129
A superb century by Saman Jayantha (129) helped Singha Sports Club,
Ambalangoda to make 247 all out at stumps on the opening day of their
Cricket Board inter-club Premier League tournament match against
Colts Cricket Club which began at Havelock Park yesterday. Dinuk
Hettiarachchi and Bhathiya Perera shared the bowling honours for the
home team by bagging three wickets each. Jayantha had 19 boundaries
and three sixes in his innings sparkling knock.

Sylvestrians stun Nalanda

St. Sylvester's College Kandy helped by a hurricane century (109 not
out off 92 balls with 16 boundaries and one six) by vice captain
Zaharan Hajireen created a major upset by beating more fancied
Nalanda College, Colombo in their Lemonade Trophy limited overs
pre-quarter-final cricket match played at the Nalanda College
grounds, Campbell Place on Thursday.
Sent in to bat by the visitors the home team managed to score 218 for
9 wickets in 47 overs. In reply the Kandy school reached that target
with Hajireen hitting Nalanda bowlers all round the wicket with good
support coming from Chanaka Wijesinha who scored 53 runs with the
help of seven boundaries.
