Even exchanges in "Battle of Mangosteens"

EVEN EXCHANGES featured the first day's play of the 'Battle of
the Mangosteens' at the Kalutara Esplanade yesterday.
Put into bat Tissa MMV made 233 in their first innings with
Jayantha Nalaka top-scoring with 64. Kalutara spinner Malinga
Bandara who was a member of the Sri Lanka under-19 team that
toured South Africa had the best figures of 5 for 45.
Then Kalutara MMV made 166 for 3 wickets at close of play. Play
resumes today at 9.30 a.m.
Tissa MMV: 233 (Jayantha Nalaka 64, Pramuka Sidesh 48, Malinga
Bandara 5 for 45).
Kalutara MMV: 166 for 3 wkts at close (Udara Weerasinghe 37,
Nalaka Weragala 60).
Bloomfield strong reply
BLOOMFIELD were 126 for 1 in reply to the Old Mazenodians 307 on
the first day of their BCCSL division two cricket match at Reid
Avenue yesterday.
Old Mazenodians 307 (Sujith Hettiarachchi 22, Priyasad
Seneviratne 67, Bede Anandappa 40, Felix Dias 63, Sarada Perera
49, Janaka Seneviratne 19, Sanjay Dissanayake 5 for 70, Roshan

Badulla Maroons win limited overs tourney

BADULLA MAROONS Sports Club emerged Badulla League limited over
cricket champions when they beat Old Uvites Sports Club by 23
runs in the final played recently at the Badulla Esplanade.
Despite a fine knock of 83 runs by A. Saujah Old Uvites SC were
able to score only 193 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 30
overs.
Earlier Badulla Maroons were all out for 216 runs in 27 overs.
Kapila Bandara top scored with 65 runs ably assisted by L. de
Silva 36.
Badulla Municipal Council Mayor Mr. M.D. Hemachandra was the
chief guest and was introduced to the two teams just before the
final.
The president of the Badulla Cricket Association R.M.U.
Ratnayake distributed the awards.

Dharmaloka in 7-wkt win

SRI DHARMALOKA MMV beat Gurukula MMV by seven wickets in their
annual limited-overs cricket match played yesterday at the R.
Premadasa International Stadium.
Batting first, Gurukula MMV made 155, while Sri Dharmaloka MMV
made 156 for 3 wickets.
With this victory, Dharmaloka has won five matches in the
series, while Gurukula has won three games.
Gurukula 155 all out in 42 overs (Indika Niroshan 38, S. Malraj
34, Jude Sampath 3 for 15, Ranga Asela 2 for 29).
Sri Dharmaloka 156 for 3 wkts in 36 overs (Kasun Cabraal 43,
Nadeesha Pitiarachchi 52 not out).
Best Batsman: Nadeesha Pitiarachchi.
Best Bowler: Jude Meemanage.
Best Fielder: Nadeesha Pitiarachchi.
