Sri Lanka's domestic season started on Friday although the ongoing ICC
Champions Trophy will limit interest in the 16-team Premier League.
Last year's three-tier structure remains. 12 teams will be fighting for the
six remaining places in the Super League starting next January. Last year's
top four - Colts, NCC, SSC and Tamil Union - will proceed straight into the
10-team Super League.
The top four sides in this tournament will then enter a knockout stage.
Last year's winner was Colts Cricket Club.
Several players have moved clubs: left-arm spinner Dinuk Hettiarachchi
leaves Colts for SSC; left-arm spinner Niroshan Bandaratillake and
all-rounder Anil Rideegammanagedera leave Tamil Union for Galle; fast bowler
Indika Gallage and wicket-keeper batsman Lanka de Silva rejoin CCC; and
young all-rounder Kaushalya Weereratne joins Bloomfield.
