Sussex have been granted planning permission to expand the County Ground at Hove, safeguarding the future of cricket at the venue which has been their home for 167 years.
The plans have been in development for six years and have gone through a number of modifications to meet earlier planning requests. The latest permission is also based on the club meeting certain criteria when they start work on the ground
Gus Mackay, the chief executive, said: "This is wonderful news for the club. We really did not relish the idea of having to move due to development restrictions. The Council's decision has ensured that the most successful cricket club of recent times can now remain in its true home and I am sure that this will be greeted with delight by all our members and supporters."
