Mark Tagg has been named as Northamptonshire's new chief executive, replacing the long-serving Steve Coverdale, who has left after 19 years. Tagg, who was formerly Worcestershire's director of finance, will start at Wantage Road on April 5.
Tagg's appointment comes at a time when the club is under investigation by auditors and the police. A club statement said "A number of financial irregularities" had been discovered in the club's accounts, and one person has so far been arrested.
Things are brighter on the field, though - Northants won promotion in both the four-day and one-day leagues last season. Tagg told the BBC website: "Kepler Wessels obviously did an excellent team building job on the field last summer. I want to try and do the same sort of thing off the field, to give the club the best backroom team possible."
