Peshawar, March 6: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in a surprise
move, denied on Monday the appointments made by the board and
announced by its chairman while talking to the reporters here on
Sunday.
The PCB director, Yawar Saeed, issued a clarification which read: "In
view of the changes in The Management, those which have appeared in
the press this morning, I would like to mention, that presently status
quo is being maintained.
"At the moment, there are no management reshuffles. Various slots and
positions of the team and administration are under strong
deliberations.
Reportedly, the chairman of the PCB has been quoted out of
context. "Whatever the outcome of these deliberations, will be
communicated to the media officially by the board."
However, Dawn's report about Javed Miandad's appointment was based on
Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia's detailed briefing to the journalists.
On the specific instructions of the general, Javed Miandad had given
his reaction to the media on his appointment as new coach. The general
had announced last week that the announcements regarding the captain
and manager for future tours would be made on March 5 at Peshawar.
