When India were looking down the barrel at 38 for 4 it needed someone to play a blinder to get them out of trouble. That blinder came from Yuvraj Singh. The left hander dealt some of the most cruel blows of the day and smashed the hapless Kiwi bowlers all over the park. His 62 ball knock yielded 68 runs. The 12 boundaries that he spanked in the course of his innings often left fielders scrambling all over the park.
It is said that Yuvraj Singh is the cleanest striker of the cricket ball in India after Sachin Tendulkar. Today there was enough proof of that.
Having topscored when India was batting, Yuvraj then got into the act again by bowling superbly (9.3-0-36-4). He dislodged JP McNamee who was batting confidently and then the rot set in. New Zealand lost quick wickets and could not launch a seriaous assault on the target. It was fitting that a quicker delivery from Yuvraj zipped through the defenses of the last Kiwi batsman and sealed India's victory.
